The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has officially suspended its nationwide strike following an appeal by the Government of Ghana.

In a press statement dated March 17, 2026, the association’s National Executive Committee (EXECO) announced that the suspension is to allow the government 14 days to resolve issues related to the salary structure and conditions of service of its members.

According to reports, the strike— which began earlier in March— had significantly disrupted public services across the country. However, the temporary suspension is intended to create room for dialogue and an amicable settlement between both parties.

CLOGSAG has therefore directed all its members nationwide to resume work by Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

The Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, indicated that the decision reflects the union’s willingness to engage constructively, while also maintaining pressure on the government to meet its demands within the agreed timeframe.

Observers say failure to reach an agreement within the 14-day window could lead to a resumption of the strike, potentially affecting key government operations again.
