Atwima Nwabiagya MCE Strengthens Social Welfare and Municipal Operations with Major Donations
NKAWIE, ASHANTI REGION – The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, has demonstrated his commitment to social welfare, inclusive development and improved public service delivery through a series of significant donations aimed at supporting vulnerable residents and strengthening the Assembly's operational capacity.
In two separate interventions in July and September 2026, the MCE facilitated the provision of livelihood-support items to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Municipality and presented a new pickup vehicle to the Assembly's Works Department.
Empowering Persons with Disabilities Through Livelihood Support
On Wednesday, July 22, 2026, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah extended support to Persons with Disabilities in the Municipality through the donation of essential equipment and financial assistance intended to improve their livelihoods and promote economic independence.
The items presented included nine (9) deep freezers, eight (8) three-in-one ice chests, one (1) wheelchair, one (1) sizeable polytank and one (1) laptop computer, in addition to financial support amounting to GH¢50,000.
The intervention was aimed at providing beneficiaries with practical resources to support their entrepreneurial activities, improve their economic circumstances and enhance their participation in community development.
The donation represents an important step towards promoting an inclusive society where persons with disabilities are given opportunities and the necessary support to become economically productive and self-reliant.
It also reflects the importance of local government interventions in addressing the needs of vulnerable groups and ensuring that development initiatives reach all sections of society.
Boosting Municipal Operations with a New Pickup Vehicle
In another significant intervention, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the MCE presented a brand-new pickup vehicle to the Works Department of the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly.
The donation is expected to strengthen the department's operational capacity and improve its ability to undertake field assignments, monitor development projects and respond more effectively to infrastructure-related challenges across the Municipality.
The Works Department plays a vital role in the Assembly's development agenda, particularly in areas such as infrastructure supervision, development control, project monitoring and the provision of technical support for municipal projects.
The provision of a dedicated vehicle will therefore enhance staff mobility, facilitate timely supervision of ongoing projects and contribute to improved coordination and efficiency in the execution of the department's responsibilities.
A Shared Commitment to Inclusive and Sustainable Development
These two interventions highlight the importance of addressing both the social and institutional needs of the Municipality.
While the support to Persons with Disabilities focuses on improving individual livelihoods, dignity and economic participation, the vehicle donation strengthens the Assembly's institutional capacity to deliver essential services and advance development projects.
Together, the initiatives reflect an approach to local governance that recognises that meaningful development requires both investment in people and the provision of adequate resources to public institutions.
Under the leadership of Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly continues to pursue interventions aimed at improving living conditions, promoting social inclusion and strengthening the delivery of development initiatives for the benefit of residents.
The two donations serve as a reminder that sustainable municipal development is built not only through infrastructure projects but also through empowering people, supporting vulnerable communities and equipping public institutions to perform their responsibilities effectively.
