MCE Cuts Sod for Construction of 24-Hour Model Market in Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah, has cut the sod for the construction of a 24-Hour Model Market, a major infrastructure project aimed at boosting trade, creating jobs, and stimulating economic growth in the municipality.
The market project will feature modern stores, a lorry station, a daycare centre, a police station, a guest house, and other essential facilities to support round-the-clock commercial activities.
The initiative fulfills a key campaign promise made by President John Mahama during the 2024 general election campaign, where he pledged to establish 24-hour markets across the country to promote continuous business operations and expand economic opportunities for Ghanaians.
Speaking during the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah emphasized that the 24-Hour Model Market would serve not only as a trading hub but also as a significant source of employment for the youth and residents of the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality.
He further assured traders and business owners that upon completion of the project, priority would be given to market women, traders, and entrepreneurs within the municipality in the allocation of shops and trading spaces before any consideration is given to outsiders.
Representing the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the traditional authorities in the municipality, Otumfuo Assinhene, Nana Yaw Akuoko, expressed gratitude to President Mahama and Hon. Wisdom Osei Boamah for initiating the project.
He noted that the traditional leaders fully support the vision behind the construction of the 24-Hour Model Market and pledged their commitment to closely monitor the contractor’s work to ensure the project is completed on schedule for the benefit of the people.
